Vietnam strongly supports two-state solution with East Jerusalem as capital of Palestinian State

(VOVWORLD) - The UN Security Council on Tuesday held an online meeting to discuss Palestine and its upcoming presidential election. Most of the Council reaffirmed their position that Israel's continued construction of settlements in the West Bank violates international law.

Ambassador Pham Hai Anh, Chargé d'Affaires of the Vietnamese mission to the UN, said Vietnam supports a long-term, comprehensive, and fair solution to the Palestinian problem. The Ambassador said the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem has no legal validity, violates international law, and hinders the peace process. He urged the international community to continue providing financial support to UN agencies to maintain humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people, and said Vietnam strongly supports a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine, in line with international law and UN resolutions.
