Vietnam to bring poverty rate below 4% by 2020
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has made progress in poverty reduction and narrowing the poverty gap, heard a plenary session of the National Assembly Committee for Social Affairs in Da Nang on Tuesday.

The achievements were attributed to the National Assembly Resolution on Promoting Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the 2016-2020 period. Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said: “Vietnam is now a bright spot in poverty reduction. The poverty rate in Vietnam has reduced from 7% in 2015 to current 6.77%. We aim to pursue sustainable poverty reduction. We need to be resolute and patient during this struggle.”
Vietnam hopes to reduce poverty to below 4% by 2020 and minimize recurrences of poverty and its associated risks.
