Vietnam, UK to boost bilateral ties
(VOVworld) - Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son has attended a working session with the Friends of Vietnam Network on his visit to the UK and Northern Ireland to host the third Vietnam-UK strategic dialogue. Ben Chapman, President of the Friends of Vietnam Network, said the UK and Vietnam have had 40 years of diplomatic ties but his organization needs to put more effort into helping British citizens gain a better understanding of Vietnam’s land and people and boosting the UK-Vietnam strategic partnership. Mr.Son said Vietnam, as a developing country, needs to learn from the UK’s experience in priority areas like infrastructure improvement, human resource development and cross-culture exchanges. Son said Vietnam needs support from the UK in clearing bombs and landmines left over from the war, teaching English, and promoting tourism.
