Vietnam values its relations with Francophone countries
Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan met with Yamina Benguigui, French Minister for the Francophonie
(VOVworld) – Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan told Yamina Benguigui, French Minister for the Francophonie, that Vietnam appreciates its relations with Francophone countries. At a meeting in Hanoi on Friday, Madam Doan said Vietnam’s participation in the Francophonie illustrates its policies of multi-lateralization and diversification of external relations and active global integration, contributing to resolving global issues. The Francophonie is a channel for Vietnam to boost its relations with French-speaking countries, especially France and French-speaking countries in Africa. Madam Doan affirmed that Vietnam supports the Francophonie to boost activities in politics, education, culture, and development.
The same day, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong held talks with Yamina Benguigui. Madam Phong stressed that the Vietnamese National Assembly has always been proactively involved in activities of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie and enhanced cooperation with its member countries. She expressed her hope that France will grant more scholarships for Vietnamese students to learn French and other professions. Vietnam will also boost the French language, which is a means to consolidate mutual understanding among Francophone countries.
