(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese women football team excellently beat Chinese Taipei 2-1 on Sunday at a play-off match of the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup in India, advancing to FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time.

They defeated Thailand 2-0 in another playoff match in India on Wednesday.
Determined to win, Coach Mai Duc Chung's players played attack right after the opening whistle of the referee and Chuong Thi Kieu opened the score of the match in the 6th minute after a beautiful, precise corner coordination.
In the second half, the Chinese Taipei unexpectedly equalized in the 50th minute. But only 6 minutes later, the Vietnamese women had a second goal by Bich Thuy, which was also the last goal of the match.

The Vietnamese women's team sealed a 2-1 win over Chinese Taipei and is qualified to play for the first time in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 finals to be held in Australia and New Zealand.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised all the team members and the trainers, especially Coach Mai Duc Chung. He asked the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and relevant agencies to consider a worthy form of rewarding the team for this special achievement. President Phuc also asked for timely policies to continue developing women's football in Vietnam.
