Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day launched

(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held in Hanoi on Saturday to announce Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day on March 15. The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Television.

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked for cooperated measures from the central to local levels to protect consumers’ interests. He stressed the importance of stronger cooperation and international integration to learn models of consumer rights protection.

Phuc said: “The entire society is responsible for protecting consumers’ rights. Central and local authorities should promote communications and law enforcement on this issue while strictly punishing violations of consumers’ rights. State management agencies should support social organizations in guaranteeing consumers’ rights through promoting innovative policies and performing working mechanism.”

This year’s campaign is themed “Consumer rights to safety”. The Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that 50 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide have designed action plans and carried out activities in response to Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day.
