The photos, taken by French photographer Réhahn, include portraits of Vietnamese grandmothers and children from several different ethnic groups. Réhahn, who spent 6 years visiting Vietnam’s 48 ethnic groups, said he hopes Vietnamese people and foreign friends will learn something about Vietnamese culture from the story behind each photo.
Nguyen Quang Trong, Director of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, said: “This photo collection is very valuable. The photographer had to overcome the language barrier to get close to the people and take these intimate pictures. Rehahn’s photos are soulful and fascinating. They will be added to an album of Vietnamese ethnic groups at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.”
