(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Minister of Public Security, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Thanh has won the silver prize in the category of Low Carbon Model Towns of Best Practices Awards Program of the Energy Smart Communities Initiative (ESCI) under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

Addressing the award ceremony in Chile on Monday, Thanh said climate change, particularly sea level rise, is becoming a greater threat to global sustainable development, which requires global efforts in economy, politics, culture, education, defense, and security.
63 cases from 17 APEC economies participated in the 2019 ESCI Best Practices Awards Program. Ten were honored in the categories of Smart Transport, Smart Buildings, Smart Grids, and Smart Jobs and Consumers.
