(VOVworld) - Today, Feb 27, is Vietnamese Physicians’ Day. On the occasion, the health sector is organizing several activities to honor doctors. Dak Lak province held a meeting to mark the 58th anniversary of Vietnamese Physicians’ Day on Wednesday. Last year, the province began implementing the National Set of Criteria on mobilizing social resources to contribute to improving health care services. So far, 41% of clinics in Dak Lak have met the new criteria. Physician Pham Ngoc Anh, Head of the clinic in Ea Bung commune in Ea Sup border district, says: "Health workers in the clinic have been determined to improve their professionalism. They are devoted to their career and united to fulfill assigned tasks. The clinic has been equipped with new facility thus ensuring the treatment work. We now have doctors working in the clinic".
The same day, the health sector in Yen Bai province held a ceremony to receive the Labor Order, First Class. This award was in recognition of the province’s achievements in implementing programs on the prevention and control of malnutrition, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and on community mental health care.
Speaking at a ceremony to mark the occasion, Doctor Nguyen Tan Binh, Director of HCM City’s Health Department, said: "The 58th anniversary of the Vietnamese Physicians’ Day aims to honor veteran doctors who devoted their energy and even their lives to national defense. On this occasion, we want to encourage young doctors in the city to follow their predecessors’ steps to contribute to health care development in the city".
The Quang Tri Provincial Health Department launched a blood donation campaign attracting the participation of 500 young doctors. Hanoi’s Health Department launched an emulation movement on improving health care activities and doctors’ ethics. Ho Chi Minh City’s Youth Union presented awards to 20 outstanding young doctors, who excelled in professionalism and ethics.
