Vietnamese president, Lao top leader praise wharf No.3 at Vung Ang port

(VOVWORLD) -President Luong Cuong met with Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith on Monday in Ha Tinh province, where both leaders called wharf No.3 at Vung Ang port as a symbol of Vietnam-Laos friendship.

The Lao top leader is visiting Vietnam to attend the inauguration ceremony of Wharf No. 3 of Vung Ang Port, connecting the two countries' economies, and to attend the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30).
At the meeting, President Cuong said the inauguration and putting into use of wharf No. 3 is an important political and foreign affairs event, demonstrating the determination of both sides in boosting cooperation and development. The President said he believes that the wharf will meet the increasing demand for freight transport, serve well the transportation of transit goods and trade cooperation with Laos, contributing to the development and economic integration of each country.
For his part, Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith emphasized that the project contributes to the strong implementation of the strategy of "transforming Laos from a landlocked country to a land-linked nation", a model of strategic cooperation in terms of politics, economy, national defense and security.
The Lao leader said the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification is of great significance to Vietnam and is a typical victory of global revolutionary forces, contributing to the just struggles of the people in the world. This is a glorious victory of the Vietnamese people and of all three countries Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, he said.
