(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the expanded BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, on Thursday.

PM Chinh said the Party and State of Vietnam treasure the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia and congratulated President Putin on successfully presiding over the BRICS Summit and the expanded BRICS Summit, as well as all BRICS activities in 2024.
The two leaders said Vietnam-Russia relations have grown steadily stronger but have not yet met set goals and will require closer coordination in economy, trade, investment, and tourism. They agreed on the need to expand cooperation into new areas like renewable energy and infrastructure.
PM Chinh said Vietnam is ready to create favorable conditions for Russian enterprises interested in investing in the Vietnamese market. He asked President Putin to pay attention to and direct the Russian government’s collaboration with Vietnam.
The two leaders emphasized the importance of energy cooperation, which is one of the pillars of Vietnam-Russia relations. They acknowledged impressive results in this crucial area of cooperation and agreed to continue encouraging and facilitating the expansion of activities by Vietnamese and Russian oil and gas enterprises.
PM Chinh urged Russia to continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Russia, who serve as a friendship bridge between the two nations.
