A welcome ceremony hosted by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel.

After the national anthems of the two countries were played, the two leaders walked together to salute the national flags of the two countries. PM Chinh invited Prime Minister Bettel to review the Guard of Honor of the Vietnam People's Army. The two leaders witnessed the welcome parade of the Guard of Honor before proceeding to the Government Headquarters for talks.

Before the welcoming ceremony, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg laid a wreath in memory of President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum, paid tribute to heroes and martyrs at Bac Son Monument, and visited President Ho Chi Minh's relic site in Hanoi.

The visit to Vietnam is the first official visit outside of Europe by Prime Minister Bettel this year and also the first visit to Vietnam by the Prime Minister of Luxembourg in more than 20 years.

It is the first high-level diplomatic activity marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Luxembourg in  2023. The visit comes just five months after PM Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Luxembourg in December 2022.
