COVAX, which has been joined by 184 countries, was created to accelerate the development and manufacture of COVID-19 vaccines, and guarantee fair and equitable access to the vaccines for every country in the world.
The WHO is showing cautious optimism that safe, effective vaccines will soon be available. Mrs. Vujnovic warned that it’s too early to say when the world will return to pre-pandemic normalcy. COVAX will help ensure that the first vaccines reach those who need it the most, healthcare workers and people in high-risk areas around the world, she said.
