(VOVWORLD) -China is ready to work with the United States to push for steady, sound and sustainable development of bilateral relations, Chinese President Xi Jinping said in his reply on Wednesday to a letter from Sarah Lande, a friend of his in the US state of Iowa.

In the letter, Xi emphasized that China is the largest developing country and the United States the largest developed country in the world, adding the future of this planet needs stability and improvement of China-US relations.
The achievements in China-US relations are primarily attributable to the collective efforts of the people of the two countries, the Chinese President said.
In a congratulatory message on the 45th anniversary of the China-US diplomatic relations on the first day of the New Year 2024, President Xi Jinping affirmed his willingness to work with the US and called on both sides to take concrete actions to promote the stable, healthy and sustainable development of bilateral relations.
