Ambassador Quy said Vietnam has taken well its role of Chair of the UNSC in January. He added that marking the 75th anniversary of the UN Charter, Vietnam selected a priority theme of January as adhering to the UN Charter to maintain international peace and security. Vietnam, which is concurrently ASEAN and UNSC Chair, promoted the cooperation between the UN and regional and subregional organizations with ASEAN being a role model.
Ambassador Quy said Vietnam will prepare well for UNSC Chair in April 2021. He told VOV reporter: “There are 3 points, First, we must absorb guidelines sent from home. Second, our reactions must be flexible and timely. Third, we must listen to all members of the UN Security Council and create trust and cooperation from all members. Last month, we had to deal with 30 meetings instead of 20 as planned. So we have to be prepared for all possible contingencies.”
