(VOVworld) - The 16th International Agriculture Trade fair in Vietnam (Agroviet 2016) opened in Hanoi on Friday.

Addressing the opening ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Le Quoc Doanh, said that despite difficulties in the export market, adverse weather, and the impact of climate change, Vietnam’s agricultural sector has rallied during the latter months of the year.

So far this year, Vietnam has earned more than 26 billion USD from its exports of agro-forestry and aquatic products, up 6.3% against the same period last year.

Deputy Minister Doanh said: “The fair has been organized in line with the Prime Minister’s instructions on strengthening state responsibility for food safety and looking for new, stable markets for farm products. It also aims to realize the action plan for Food Safety Year and offers an opportunity for provinces, and enterprises to promote their agricultural products and improve the recognition of Vietnamese farm products both domestically and internationally.”

With 400 booths representing 300 Vietnamese and foreign companies, AgroViet 2016 will run until next Tuesday.
