(VOVWORLD) - A European Union website documents the 50-year history of the Vietnam-India relationship, calling it “as clear as a cloudless sky”, quoting a remark late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong made more than four decades ago.

From “Bilateral Relations” to “Strategic Partnership” to “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”, the two countries have always shared close diplomatic ties, according to moderndiplomacy.eu. Despite having different political systems, there have been numerous high-level diplomatic visits, and India has played a key role in supporting Vietnam’s independence, and unification, and national defense.
Vietnam is India’s vital strategic partner and their economic and trade cooperation is a very important part of India-Vietnam relations. India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said India wants to increase bilateral trade to 15 billion USD and praised the growth of Vietnam’s economy.
Vietnam and India are implementing the 2021-2023 Action Program, which incorporates all the agreements and discussions that have taken place in official meetings.
The website says the relationship between Vietnam and India is a longstanding one, with a deep understanding of each other’s needs and a mutual sense of respect. A standing invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expansive policies suggest that the sky is still as clear as it was in 1980.
