(VOVworld) - A 62-year-old man in Yala's Betong district, who had just returned last Sunday from the annual Haj in Saudi Arabia, developed symptoms resembling those of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS).

A Betong health official said on Thursday that the man has been isolated, tested, and will be monitored for the next 14 days.
This is the second suspected case of MERS in Thailand in the past two days.
On Tuesday, a 59-year-old woman in Muang Yala just back from the Haj was brought to a disease screening clinic to be tested for MERS and the result is still pending.
To date, most MERS cases have come from the Middle East, mainly Saudi Arabia, or have had contact with someone from that region.
