(VOVworld) – An international conference featuring opportunities and challenges, solidarity, and cooperation for the ASEAN Community was held in Hanoi on Monday.

The 2-day event analyzed advantages and disadvantages toward putting forward solutions to increase the involvement of people and social organizations in the process to build an ASEAN Community.

Anna Mae representing the ASEAN Secretariat said the ASEAN Economic Community 2015 is a milestone for the realization of three ASEAN pillars - Economic Community, Security-Politics Community, and Socio-Cultural Community.

Mae shared a master plan of the ASEAN Economic Community 2015, focusing on a single market and production base; a competitive economic region; equitable economic development; and integration with the global economy.

Also high on the agenda were opportunities and challenges set for people  during the process of ASEAN establishment, preparations by Vietnam and other members for the integration, and the role and participation of sectors, enterprises, people’s organizations, and non-profit organizations.
