(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam's No. 1 female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh became runner up of German Open for the second consecutive time after losing 16-21 and 17-21 to world No. 13 player Yeo Jia Min of Singapore in the final held in the German city of Mulheim on Sunday.

Thuy Linh, ranked 26 in the world, lost to sixth seed Mia Blichfeldt 11-21, 9-21 in the final of last year's German Open.
Before the final, Thuy Linh had impressive performances. Seeded No. 6, she defeated Leonice Huet of France, Aakarshi Kashyap and Tasnim Mir of India, and lost only one set in the quarterfinals.
In the semi-finals, the Vietnamese player defeated Riko Gunji of Japan with a score of 21-17, 21-19, while other strong seeds Line Kjaersfeldt of Denmark, Sung Shuo-yun of China’s Taipei, and Zhang Beiwen of the USA were all eliminated early.
Thuy Linh will likely enter the Top 20 in the world soon.
