At a meeting on Thursday in Hanoi with Canadian Deputy Minister of National Defense Stefanie Beck, Hang also called for the maintenance of existing bilateral dialogue mechanisms such as political consultation at the deputy minister level, defense policy consultation, and a joint economic committee.
Deputy Minister Beck said Canada appreciates Vietnam's role and position in the region and attaches importance to developing relations with Vietnam, especially in the process of implementing Canada's Indo-Pacific Strategy.
Canada will continue to coordinate closely with Vietnam to bring the Comprehensive Partnership to strong development, Beck added. She pledged continued support for Vietnam to participate more actively and effectively in UN peacekeeping.
