Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh visits India
(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh expressed hopes that Indian businesses will increase their presence in Vietnam in fields of India’s strengths and Vietnam’s demand, like aviation and railway infrastructure, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, tourism and garments. He made the remarks while attending a business round-table conference jointly held by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Embassy of Vietnam in India on Wednesday. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government is making efforts to improve the business climate and provide a completely transparent legal system. Vietnam has always attached importance to the private and foreign-investment sectors and taken drastic measures to enhance competitive capacity.

On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh held talks with Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj. The two diplomats agreed on the need to boost cooperation in scientific research, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges. They highlighted the need to maintain partnership in defense-security with India continuing its training and technical support programmes, its providing of soft loans, and its cooperation in dealing with non-traditional security challenges.
The two sides agreed to cooperate in maintaining peace, stability, and air and maritime safety and security in the Asia-Pacific region and the world. They emphasized the principle of respecting international law and settling disputes through peaceful measures in conformity with international law, the United Nations Charter and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Following the talks, Mr. Minh and Ms. Swaraj signed an Action Programme for the implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership until 2020.
The same day, Mr. Minh paid a courtesy visit to Vice President and Chairman of the Senate Hamid Ansari and received Vietnam’s honorary consul in Nepal Rajesh Kazi Shrestha and several Nepalese businesspeople.
Deputy Prime Minister Minh delivered a speech at the 9th Delhi Dialogue, themed “India-ASEAN Relations: Charting the Course for the Next 25 Years”.
