(VOVworld) - High Representative and Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini on Thursday submitted to the European Union a proposal of a political dialogue and cooperation agreement with Cuba.

In an official statement, Mrs. Mogherini said this agreement will create a common framework to enhance dialogue, political cooperation, as well as a foundation to promote bilateral cooperation in regional and global issues. She believed that the agreement will be the turning point in EU-Cuba relations if it receives approval from all 28 member countries. Mrs. Mogherini also requested the repeal of the EU's 1996 Common Position on Cuba, the main obstacle in normalizing their bilateral relationship.
