(VOVworld) -  Former Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Abu Al Gheit officially became the Arab League’s eighth chief on Sunday, replacing Nabil El Araby.

Abu Al Gheit began his first day at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo meeting with current Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukry. The two exchanged views on the current situation in the Arab world and discussed preparations for the annual Arab summit later this month in Mauritania. Abu Al Gheit promised to boost the Arab League’s performance.
