Macron said the meeting will include several Baltic countries as well as Belgium, Canada, Finland, Iceland, Greece, Norway, the Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden, and EU and NATO leaders.
France held an emergency meeting Monday on Ukraine and the security challenges facing Europe at which participating countries agreed to ensure security for Ukraine and predicted a ceasefire but no peace deal.
On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was briefed on the outcome of Russia-US talks in Saudi Arabia and was pleased with the results. At the meeting, the two sides discussed economics, space, and energy cooperation. Putin said he would like to meet President Donald Trump in person but such a meeting would need to be prepared.
The two men have many things to discuss, including strategic stability and Middle East issues such as Russia's presence in Syria. Putin confirmed that in Riyadh the US and Russia agreed to restore the normal functioning of each other's diplomatic mission.
