(VOVWORLD) - Global stocks fell on Monday as the trade war between the US and China escalated.
MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was down 0.4% in the opening session, touching its lowest level since mid-February. Australian shares lost 1.2%, while Japan's Nikkei stock index slid 1.9%. In the closing session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 2.38%, the S&P 500 lost 2.41% and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 3.41%. Stock indexes in Paris and Frankfurt dropped 1%, while the London stock market gave up 0.55%.
The world stock market’s changes reflected investors’ concerns about the escalated US-China trade tension.
