(VOVworld) - Ho Chi Minh City hopes to receive support from Japan in climate change adaptation projects, said Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem.

At Thursday’s reception for visiting Japanese Deputy Minister of the Environment Shigemoto Kajihara, Liem said HCM City anticipates support in technology transfer, capital assistance, and human resources training in the environment field.

He thanked Japan for introducing a solid waste treatment model, calling waste treatment in urban areas, environmental protection, and improvement of the quality of life “a great concern to the municipal authorities”. Deputy Minister Kajihara said he hopes HCM City and Japan will work more closely on environmental protection.
