An Indian army official said Pakistani border guards targeted 10 Indian border posts in the Poonch sector and Indian troops retaliated. There was no immediate report of casualties. There was also no word from Pakistan on the latest outbreak of fighting.
The two sides agreed on a ceasefire along the international border and Line of Control (LoC) in 2003 as a trust building measure. But the cease fire has been regularly infringed since the beginning of this year.
