Hung said the design of nuclear power plants in Vietnam must comply with national technical regulations. In cases where domestic standards are not yet available, foreign or international standards proposed by project partners may be applied.
These standards must be appropriate to Vietnam’s conditions and align with the safety and security guidelines of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), including those related to radiation safety, nuclear safety, and nuclear security.
In addition, nuclear power plants must adhere to the principle of defense-in-depth, ensure radiation and nuclear safety and security, and employ advanced, proven technologies.
The operation of these facilities must remain stable and reliable within defined operational limits and conditions throughout the entire plant lifecycle. Special attention must also be given to human factors and human-machine interaction.
