Witnesses said Israeli fighters targeted a military base used by militants of the Hamas armed wing in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khanyounis. Two other airstrikes hit animal farms and open areas in Nussairat and Dieral-Balah cities in the middle of the Gaza Strip. Right after the air raids, Hamas security services evacuated their sites across the coastal enclave. The airstrikes came a few hours after Israel announced that six rockets fired from Gaza landed in its territories. None of the Palestinian armed groups has claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks. Earlier in the day, an Israeli army spokesman told Israel's official radio that an army patrol team was attacked by Palestinian militants near the fence between Gaza and Israel.
