The warning from Gallant was issued in the context of continuous threats from Iranian officials to carry out fierce responses to Israel’s airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1, which killed seven members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

An Israeli army spokesman said Sunday that Israel’s army withdrew its infantry from the southern Gaza Strip, with the exception of one brigade. Israel and Hamas have sent teams to Egypt for fresh talks on a potential ceasefire in the 6-month-old conflict.
