This was Israel’s third attack on a UN school in 10 days. Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, an Israeli Army spokesman, said Israel has begun to withdraw troops from the Gaza Strip and redeploy other forces along the border, adding that the mission is ongoing. Since Israel launched its campaign to safeguard the border on July 8, 1300 soldiers and civilians have died, including 1253 Palestinians and 56 Israelis.
