The National Assembly’s Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has urged both Vietnam and Cuba’s legislative bodies to continue exchanging delegations at every level to increase mutual understanding and share their experiences in legislation and supervision. Hung stated this at a reception in Hanoi on Monday for Raul Castro Ruz, the visiting First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of the State Council and the Council of Ministers. He said it will help to strengthen the special traditional friendship between the two nations. He added that Vietnam’s National Assembly has set up a Vietnamese-Cuban Parliamentary Friendship Group and will do its utmost to bring bilateral ties between both legislative bodies to a new level.

Raul Castro informed Chairman Hung of the outcomes of his talks with Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, President Truong Tan Sang, and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. Both agreed on key ways of strengthening cooperative ties between both Parties, and Governments in many socio-economic fields. They also discussed international issues of mutual concern, especially the global economic crisis and recession. Earlier, Castro paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and laid wreaths at the Martyrs’ Monument in Hanoi.
