National Assembly’s Economic Committee convenes plenary meeting
(VOVworld) – The National Assembly’s Economic Committee began its 4th plenary meeting on Monday to verify an additional report on the country’s socio-economic performance last year and early this year. The report delivered by Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Cao Viet Sinh pointed out some positive results have been recorded with economic growth reaching 5,9%. This is a relatively positive figure given the government’s ongoing measures to fight inflation and stabilize the macro-economy. Sinh added more efforts need to be made to restructure investment, commercial banks and state-owned enterprises. The National Assembly deputies urged the government to focus on seeking out new markets for products and reduce interest rates.
Regarding the draft law on Cooperatives, the NA Economic Committee said that the draft law is aimed at developing a new model of cooperatives, which will play a major role in the national economy.
