Norway and China said in a joint statement that through dialogues, the two sides have reached a level of trust that allows the resumption of a normal relationship.
In 2010, China objected to the Nobel committee in Norway awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Liu, who was imprisoned for 11 years on subversion charges for organizing a petition to overthrow the government. Beijing said the award harmed relations between China and Norway.
