(VOVworld) – Nearly 200 students in Ninh Binh province who achieved excellent results in their studies have been presented with scholarships worth 32,500 US dollars from the Dinh Bo Linh Study Encouragement Fund.

A ceremony was held in Ninh Binh province on Sunday to present the scholarships in the presence of President Tran Dai Quang.

The awardees included winners at national and international student competitions in 2016, valedictorians at high school entrance exams, and medalists at regional and international sporting events this year.

Established in 2012, the fund aims to encourage Ninh Binh students to study and promote their talents to serve Vietnam.  

The fund is named after Dinh Bo Linh, a national hero who defeated 12 warlords to unite Vietnam, afterwards declaring himself King Dinh Tien Hoang. He chose Hoa Lu in Ninh Binh province as the capital and named the country Dai Co Viet (Great Viet).
