(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary To Lam on Saturday stressed the need to continue to study and clarify the content of Vietnam's "new growth model", emphasizing the fundamental factors for rapid and sustainable development.

Mr. Lam was speaking at a meeting of the 14th National Party Congress’ Document Subcommittee, held on Saturday in Hanoi, which was attended by President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
Concluding the meeting, General Secretary To Lam said the draft Political Report this time closely follows the requirements of reality with some points having been clarified, but further study and discussion are need to fine-tune future guidelines and policies.
In particular, efforts should be made to correctly identify the role of economic sectors, underscore the role of the private economy as the most important driver of GDP growth, increased labor productivity, and job generation. Early preparation of infrastructure and human resources to achieve the target of double-digit growth must be taken into consideration, he said.

The General Secretary requested more in-depth evaluation of the streamlining of the political system apparatus, rearranging and reorganizing administrative units at all levels, adding that it’s not simply an adjustment of administrative boundaries but an adjustment of economic space, decentralization, allocation and combination of economic resources.
The Party chief said the draft report must highlight science and technology development and digital transformation and how they are reflected in social life. The draft report must contain content about how to ensure a balance between economic development and culture and society.
General Secretary To Lam also suggested continuing to analyze or forecast new developments in the world as well as regional situations and how they impact Vietnam, making sure that we are not passive or surprised in any situation.
He stressed the need to update achievements in national defense, security, and foreign affairs, identify viewpoints, orientations, and solutions for the coming period, more clearly demonstrate proactiveness in international integration, and Vietnam's positive contributions to addressing global and regional issues.
