PM meets with American professor Thomas Vallely
(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met in Hanoi on Saturday with Professor Thomas Vallely, Senior Advisor for Vietnam at Columbia University’s Southeast Asia Institute.

PM Chinh called on Professor Vallely to continue providing policy advice to support Vietnam’s goal of achieving 8% growth in 2025 and double-digit growth in the following years, creating breakthrough in science and technology, digital transformation and innovation, as well as developing private economy in Vietnam.
The Prime Minister asked the Professor to speak to the US government about Vietnam's efforts in handling issues of concern to the US, especially trade balance, removing difficulties facing US investment and business projects, towards a balanced, harmonious and sustainable economic relationship. He urged Professor Vallely to advocate for US recognition of Vietnam’s market economy status and the removal of restrictions on high-tech exports.
The Fulbright University project is significant in promoting the Vietnam-US bilateral relationship, PM Chinh said, adding that Vietnam will create the most favorable conditions for the university to operate as the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is actively coordinating with relevant agencies to completely resolve difficulties so that the university project can go ahead as planned.
Professor Vallely praised Vietnam's goals, orientations, and strategies and made a number of recommendations to Vietnam. He said he will continue to push cooperation activities with Vietnam.
