The two leaders informed each other about their country’s development and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern, particularly security matters. They agreed that disputes should be addressed peacefully while international law and countries’ responsibilities should be promoted for regional peace, security and development.

The two leaders hailed significant contributions made by the Vietnamese community in France to their bilateral ties. Mr. Trọng asked for France’s continued favorable conditions for Vietnamese expats to live and work in France so that they can continue to contribute to the development of the host country and bilateral relations.

Party leader Trong took this occasion to invite President Macron to visit Vietnam. After their talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of several cooperative agreements and co-chaired a press conference. Mr. Trong told reporters: “We have agreed to open a new chapter in Vietnam-France relations by enhancing political trust and strategic cooperation and improving the effectiveness of cooperative projects. We’re determined to put economic links on a par with our fruitful political ties and sharply increase future trade. Vietnam promises to continue to create the best possible conditions and hopes the same from France for businesses and investors of both sides to scale up their operations in the other country”.

President Macron said France always supports Vietnam’s development and renewal process, adding that France hopes Vietnam will achieve even more success.
