Party, state, government leaders meet overseas Vietnamese on Lunar New Year
(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received a delegation of overseas Vietnamese who returned home for Tet celebration on Wednesday.
He reiterated the Party and State's constant policy of considering Viet Kieu an inseparable part of the homeland. He pledged further support and facilitation to help them integrate in the host countries and contribute to national development. The Party leader sent his best wishes of good health, happiness, and success to all overseas Vietnamese in the world.

President Tran Dai Quang and overseas Vietnamese returning home for Tet have joined an incense offering ceremony in the Thang Long Royal Citadel. The activity on Wednesday was part of the “Homeland Spring 2018 - Glorious future for Vietnam” program dedicated to welcome overseas Vietnamese. The President and Viet Kieu representatives paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the Presidential relic site. A grand gala night took place in the National Convention Center on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said that the government is for all people, including overseas Vietnamese. He told a reception on Wednesday for 100 Vietnamese, who return home during Tet, that Vietnam’s achievements in 2017 include the contributions of Vietnamese living around the world.

He told them that Vietnam needs experience of startup, scientific and technological knowledge, and resources for national development and called on them to engage in the process.

The same day, leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front met with 90 representative overseas Vietnamese who attended the Homeland Spring program. The delegates said that they want to update information of the domestic market and help connect Vietnamese and foreign businesses. Le Huu Canh is from Australia: “We’d like to take Australian businesses to Vietnam and support Vietnamese businesses to explore foreign markets and approach advanced technology. We wish to rally many foreign investors for Vietnam’s development.”
