The photos document Vietnam’s accession to ASEAN in July 1995, major events that Vietnam has participated in, and regional integration initiatives Vietnam has promoted to strengthen ASEAN's relations with partners around the world and consolidate the bloc's centrality.

At the opening ceremony, ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn said Vietnam's joining ASEAN 30 years ago was a historic event that opened a new era of stability, solidarity, and prosperity.

He said Vietnam is one of the most dynamically developing economies in ASEAN, a key driving force for regional integration, and a country firmly committed to strengthening ASEAN's geopolitical position amid the world’s rapid changes.

“Vietnam's remarkable journey with ASEAN serves as a powerful example of how individual progress contributes to regional prosperity. As we gaze upon the photographs in this exhibition, we can not only witness Vietnam’s past three decades of remarkable achievements within ASEAN, but also catch glimpses of our shared future. I'm confident that Vietnam will continue to play a vital role in shaping this future,” said the ASEAN chief.

Malaysia Ambassador to Vietnam Tan Yang Thai said Vietnam's current development priorities are contributing greatly to Vision 2045, a central theme of Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship this year.

“Vietnam's focus on digital innovation, green growth, and inclusive development allies perfectly with this vision. I have no doubt that Vietnam will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping ASEAN’s future and strengthening our collective aspiration,” said the Malaysian Ambassador.
