At a press conference in Hanoi on Thursday, Phu Tho provincial People’s Committee said the week-long event will include an offering ceremony to commemorate the Hung Kings and solemn rituals to offer incense to the nation’s legendary founders, Lac Long Quan and Au Co.
As part of the festival, a North Western Tourism Fair will be held with the participation of 8 provinces, Phu Tho Tourism Association, and 13 districts in the province.
There will also be a photo exhibition, a “chung” and “giay” cakes (square and round glutinous rice cakes) wrapping and cooking contest, a Xoan singing festival, and art performances.

Ha Ke San: Phu Tho province is standardizing rituals so that similar ceremonies will be held nationwide to show respect to our ancestors. |
Ha Ke San, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the organizing board, said: “the highlight of this year’s festival is to introduce Phu Tho’s cultural identities. We’ll facilitate the best conditions for people nationwide to go on a pilgrimage at the Hung Kings Temple. Local old people will guide the pilgrims in their religious practices.”
San noted that the festival will help to further promote the two UNESCO recognized world cultural heritages, “Hung Kings’ worship” and Xoan singing.
