PM surveys 400 km Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway project
(VOVWORLD) -The railway line linking Lao Cai, Hanoi, and Hai Phong is a major project that must be completed as quickly as possible, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Sunday, adding that procedures should be shortened to ensure the project’s prompt completion.

While in the northern border province of Lao Cai, PM Chinh surveyed the railway project and said it must take the shortest route possible. He ordered that the number and location of freight and passenger stations be adjusted for efficient operation.
Train speed and track gauge must be designed to ensure a smooth connection with the Chinese railway, PM Chinh said, stressing the need to closely coordinate with the Chinese side.
The 11.6-billion-USD Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway will have a total length of 400km and pass through nine provinces and cities. Construction is slated to begin at the end of next year and be completed by the end of 2030.
