Prime Minister Chinh, who is also chairman of the steering committee for nuclear power plant construction, chaired the committee's second meeting in Hanoi on Tuesday.

He said green and sustainable development is the major policy of the Party and State. As Vietnam strives to achieve economic growth of 8% or more in 2025 and double-digit growth in the coming period, electricity demand is predicted to increase 12-16% per year.

Vietnam promotes economic development based on science and technology, innovation, especially emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, internet of things, and big data, so energy demand is huge, according to the PM.

Mr. Chinh directed the Ministry of Science and Technology to collect feedback from experts, the public, and scientists and submit amendments to the Law on Atomic Energy at the next National Assembly session.
