(VOVWORLD) -Incumbent President Joe Biden acknowledged his fumbling performance against Republican rival at the first televised presidential debate of the 2024 election season, saying ”I don’t debate as well as I used to.”

During a rally on Friday in Raleigh, North Carolina, Biden said he intended to defeat Donald Trump in the November presidential election, giving no sign he would consider dropping out of the race.
Despite his poor performance, Biden’s campaign raised 14 million USD on debate day and the morning after, while Trump's campaign said it raised more than 8 million USD from the start of the debate through the end of the night.
Biden and Trump are scheduled to square off again on the debate stage in September, hosted by ABC News, after both effectively seal their party's nominations.
