(VOVworld) - Moscow doubts the legitimacy of the Ukraine’s upcoming presidential election scheduled for May 25, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a Tuesday press conference. He said it is unusual to conduct an election while troops are deployed in certain areas of the countries. He added that Ukraine should reach an agreement on the new constitution regulating the President’s authority prior to the election. Addressing the new round of talks in Geneva, Lavrov said agreements reached at the initial round of talks on April 17 have not yet been implemented, and it will be more complicated to organize a new meeting without the participation of the Russian speaking regions in Ukraine. Meanwhile, acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andiry Deshchytsia said  Kiev is ready for new talks in Geneva to ease the current crisis provided that Moscow supports the upcoming election.
