(VOVWORLD) -The talks between the Russian and US delegations on embassy work issues have ended in Istanbul after six and a half hours, Russia’s news agency Tass reported.
The talks ended without comments for the press. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said information on the results of the talks "will be provided in one way or another."
The US delegation was led by Sonata Coulter, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State overseeing policy toward Russia and Central Europe. The Russian side was led by Alexander Darchiev, head of the Foreign Ministry's North American Department.
Earlier, the US State Department said that during Thursday's talks, “there are no political or security issues on the agenda. Ukraine is not on the agenda."
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the talks would focus on creating better conditions for Russian diplomats in the United States and their US counterparts in Russia, after a series of rows over staffing levels and embassy properties.
During the Biden administration, the two countries’ relationship hit “rock bottom” following the expulsion of each other's embassy staff.
