(VOVworld) – Party General Secretary
Nguyen Phu Trong’s ongoing visit to Russia is drawing much attention
from the Russian public and media.

largest state-run news agencies, ran an article titled “The Vietnamese people
are always grateful to the Soviet and Russian people” prior to Trong’s visit.

Professor Doctor Vladimir Mazyrin,
Director of the Far East Institute’s Vietnam-ASEAN Research Centre under Russia’s Science Academy,
said: “The comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries
requires regular high-level meetings. We had such a visit last year when the Russian
President came to Vietnam.
Trust and regular coordination have made our bilateral ties different from ties
with other countries.”
Evgeny Glazunov, Honorary President of the Russia-Vietnam
Friendship Association, said: “Party leader Trong’s visit marks a milestone
in bilateral ties which will contribute to consolidating our traditional
friendship. On this visit, Mr. Trong met with President Putin, Prime Minister
Medvedev, and other senior Russian leaders to discuss issues of common concern
and ways to elevate bilateral relations. I have worked with Vietnam for decades
and I’m happy to see growing bilateral ties reflected in the bilateral
comprehensive strategic partnership and mutual understanding between the two
peoples.”
