(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister of the Syrian transitional government Mohammad al-Bashir on Tuesday called on the country to move towards peace and stability.

Speaking to Al Jazeera TV in his first interview since being appointed as the caretaker prime minister until March 2025, al-Bashir emphasized that it’s time for the Syrian people to enjoy stability and peace.
Israel on Wednesday launched a large-scale airstrike operation targeting weapons stockpiles across Syria. The Israeli Defense Ministry said its air force has carried out about 480 airstrikes in the past 48 hours.
The UN has condemned Israel's airstrikes on military targets in Syria and its seizure of a buffer zone in the Golan Heights. UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen called on Israel to immediately stop its military operations. UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric stressed that the UN does not accept any violation of Syria's territorial integrity.
