At a meeting with Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi on Tuesday, Jack said the UK will continue to support Vietnam in combating climate change, developing renewable energy, and promoting green finance initiatives.
During the meeting, Minister Son suggested the two sides continue the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially in light of the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UK. Son also emphasized the need to effectively implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms and enhance collaboration at multilateral forums.
The Foreign Minister urged the active implementation of the Vietnam-UK Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) and encouraged British and Scottish businesses to invest in Vietnam, particularly in finance, science, technology, innovation, green transition, and energy transition.
Son asked for the UK’s support in building institutions, formulating policies, training human resources, and transferring technology during Vietnam’s green transition and sustainable development, and highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of education and training, including joint training cooperation involving Scottish universities.
